Born in: Demorest, Georgia
Resided in: Atlanta, Georgia

Victoria “Tory” Lindsey Dake died suddenly on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from a seizure disorder. Tory was born on November 25, 1995, to Robin Lindsey Dake and Turok “Roc” Dake. She grew up in Stephens County, GA, until she attended UGA.

Tory approached life with curiosity, rather than trepidation. She said “yes” to unique opportunities that came her way. She loved life and lived it well, devoted especially to her friends and family. Tory’s competitive spirit was on full display on a gymnastics mat or soccer field or in card game.

Throughout her life, she responded wholly to a call to help others. She invited children into play and adventure as a camp counselor. She traveled around the world and across the country with fellow faith pilgrims. She introduced others to the joys of horseback riding while working and living on a horse farm. As a staff member for a residential outdoor adventure school, she encouraged young women on their quest for reform and healing.

Tory was an intellectual, wielding her curious mind both on a chessboard and in a philosophical debate about society, science, or the intricacies of a Taylor Swift album. She had an innate wisdom for balancing grace with determination, strength with vulnerability, and focus with flexibility.

Tory graduated from the University of Georgia in 2019, earning her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Psychology with an Emphasis in Neuroscience. She planned to carry her love for children’s wellness into her next vocation as a child psychologist. She was studying in Mercer University’s Clinical Mental Health Counseling program in Atlanta at the time of her death.

She is preceded in death by her uncle, Robert Hunter Lindsey, Jr., and her grandparents, Mary Ann Bennett Lindsey and Robert Hunter Lindsey, Sr.. She is survived by her mother, Robin, of Eastanollee; sister, Lacy Nicole Dake, of Cumming, GA; aunt, Jennifer Lindsey, and cousins, Jack and Ben Lindsey, of Charlotte, NC; godparents, Mike and Stephanie Maley, of Toccoa; godbrothers, Josh Maley, of Atlanta, GA, and Sean Maley, of Honolulu, HI; and godbrother, William Demmler, of Gainesville, GA.

Family and friends will gather May 17, 2025 at 6 p.m. for a memorial service at Mikell Camp and Conference Center in Toccoa. Camp is camp-y, so wear something comfortable.

For anyone who would like to stay after the service for fellowship, there will be a meal following the service.

Please bring a photo of Tory to display if you have one. Framed or unframed is fine. (You can take it home afterwards.) So many of us knew Tory in a specific area of her life and it would be neat to have all the different areas represented so we can see a full picture of her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Camp Mikell or to your favorite animal rescue organization.

Tory, we miss your smile, your laugh, your avid reading and excellent book recommendations, your love of animals, your genuine care for the wellbeing of others, your humor, and your grace. Most of all, we just miss you. Save a place for us at the banquet table and sing a song or two in our honor as you wait.
