Our mom’s journey to the United States was driven by love, as she came to support her high school sweetheart and late ex-husband in his pursuit of becoming a heart surgeon. Though she originally did not plan to stay in the United States, Myriam made sacrifices for the well-being of her children, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to family.
Myriam Eugenia Perazolo was born on September 8, 1945, in Junín de Los Andes, Argentina. She came to the US in 1970 and Atlanta has been her home since 1977. Myriam dedicated her life to her family. She was a devoted mother to Veronica Carabajal Shaughnessy (Dan), Nestor Xavier Carabajal (Amy) and a wonderful grandmother to Kyle, Rhys, and Alexa Shaughnessy and Amelia, Avery, and Arden Carabajal. She was lovingly known as “Noni“ to her six grandchildren and all of their friends.
Myriam held a Master’s degree in Biology and was instrumental in establishing the Hispanic Assistance Program at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Atlanta during the 1980s. She went on to have a successful career as a Realtor, providing invaluable support to the Hispanic community in Atlanta.
A passionate skier, Myriam loved hitting the slopes in Vail, Colorado. She was also an exceptional cook, delighting her family with her culinary creations, which included her families favorite dishes; empanadas, tortellini, milanesa, and tortilla de papa.
Myriam Eugenia Perazolo will be remembered for her warmth, dedication, and deep love she brought to those around her.
