Gerald "Jerry" Bickers

Gerald “Jerry” Bickers of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away on September 6th at Tanner Hospital in Carrollton, Georgia after an extended battle with cancer. Jerry was born on August 8th 1947 in Atlanta, Georgia to Ruth Daniels and Kirby Bickers. He was preceded in death his Parents, Mother and Step-Father Dale Shadix, his Sister Cheryl Bickers.
Jerry is survived by his lifelong Partner and Spouse Jame Welch, his Sister Janice Washburn of Jamestown, Rhode Island, Nephew Terry Couch, Niece Barbara Cain and several niece and nephews.
Jerry served in the US Marine Corp during the Vietnam era in Cuba. He retired from the State of Georgia and then volunteered for 10 years with Tanner Health Care Systems. Jerry was a people person and never met a stranger. he was a member of the America Legion Local Post 70 in Villa Rica, Georgia and enjoyed entertaining everyone there, where he will sadly be missed. He was an inspiration to everyone. Jerry’s choice was cremation.
Cremation Society of Georgia will assist with his wishes. A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date.

We met Jerry and Jame at the legion and hit it off with you both wonderfully. We became legion buddies and had many dinners and occasions there together. We never had a dull evening together and you always made our day that much brighter. You truly were an amazing person and it is a honor to have known you. You’ll always have a special place in our hearts
