Kellie Sue Best

Kellie Sue Fleck Best drew her last breath on Saturday, September 3 rd 2022, surrounded by loved ones both in person and on several phones, with the sound of Amazing Grace playing softly in the background. She fought a valiant fight against colon cancer for almost three full years after doctors at one point only gave her one and a half to two years. She faced both the cancer and heavy anxiety with sheer determination, rooted in her faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters.
Kellie was born on January 4th, 1974 to Robert and Sarah (Sally) Fleck (Gilham) in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, the only child outside of her multiple fur brothers Pepsi, Bailey, and Ike.
Kellie had a creative heart and mind, and would use that gift to serve her family, loved ones, friends, and others at church or in her neighborhood. She was a skilled cook, baker, and cake decorator, and her family and friends were fortunate to be the frequent beneficiaries of her love and care this way. She was ever ready and willing to try new crafts and develop new talents, from wreath-making to painting and beyond. Her family will cherish having these reminders of her skills around them for years to come. Kellie’s family is enthusiastic sports fans and although she wasn’t as loud as her husband, she was always cheering on her Nittany Lions, Steelers, Penguins, and especially the Atlanta Madhatters.
Kellie will be most remembered for her love and devotion to her family and friends. She valued keeping in touch with friends and loved ones near and far, and they will all remember her beautiful and infectious laugh; which was always at the ready, and her steady support and kindness. Her two greatest joys were her boys Liam and Janson, who got away with a lot from their mommy. She could be strict, but always had a soft spot for them.
Most importantly, Kellie truly loved her God. From the ministries of Campus Crusade for Christ, Young Life, ROCK, to Mecklenburg Community Church, she worked to love and serve God and the community. Though her faith was tested in her final years, she was confident in God’s love for her and the promise of eternal life. Her loved ones take comfort in this promise despite her time on earth feeling too short. Some people just finish early.
She is survived by Dave Best, her husband of more than twenty years, and sons Liam and Janson Best of Acworth, Georgia, as well as her mother Sarah and father Robert Fleck both of State College, Pennsylvania, Mother and Father-in-law Merrell and Kay Best of Statesville, North Carolina, sister-in-law Lisa Best of Salisbury, North Carolina, and her forever friends Erin Broussard of Spring City, Pennsylvania, Amy Forbes of Ames, Iowa, Erin Antonsen of Mooresville, North Carolina, Jamie Andersen of Davidson, North Carolina, and Candy Benson, Ragan Kernan, and Jennifer Praser all of Acworth, Georgia.
And finally, if you’d like a way to honor Kellie’s memory, invest in your friendships. As stated above, Kellie put a lot of time and effort into her relationships. She nurtured those she loved with care, humor, and her many talents. She used her one life to put others first by investing into them. She would be thrilled to know others loved more intentionally because of her legacy.
There will be two celebrations of life from which to choose.

In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for contributions to be made to the American Cancer Society.
May her soul rest in peace.
May Dave and family be at peace and know that now there is an angle looking over the family…

The picture of Kellie embodies all the love and joy of God that she had and gave, our lives are forever better because of Kellie, Dave – we love you and and lifting up you and your boys
Your girl…that infectious smile and her laugh! Her dry sense of humor…I can just hear her voice in some of the conversations you had (when she kept the pill under her tongue ☺️). She loved you so much and you loved her so well! Dave there are no words we can say to comfort your heart, but we deeply love you and are praying for you all! I know we’re far away, but we’re a phone call away and you’re always welcome to come and visit with the boys. I’m thankful you are celebrating all the beautiful things about her! The picture above made my heart tear up over her beauty. Thankful that you have a community that loves you all. God has her fully whole but I know her heart breaks for you- so does His. But He so deeply loves you and desires that somehow you’ll see His Presence and love even in the midst of your hurt and pain. Know you are loved, we are here for you all and her heart continues through you and the boys.
In my thoughts and prayers.

To David and sons, your hearts hemorrhage at the loss of your Kellie, as well as the hearts of her parents and your parents each grieving. Our God will give you strength to place one foot in front of the other. In awkwardness voices will say “get over it!”… trust me LOVE you never get over. God will help you lift your feet and show you how to live again. When all is quiet, reach out to HIM. He will amaze you with His presence, love and guidance. My prayers for each.
